Bangle Making Workshop
About the Course
This course is great for beginners to learn some basic silver-working techniques, including hammering, annealing and soldering. You will go away with a copper bangle and a solid silver bangle that you have made yourself to fit your wrist perfectly! It is run by Vicky Hodgkiss BA (Hons) Silversmith. The 4 hour session takes place in the workshops of Bigbury Mint, Ermington, in the heart of the South Hams area of Devon.
Courses normally run on Saturday mornings. We can take group-bookings at other times as well, and these can be tailored to your needs.
What’s included in the price?
All tools and materials are provided. Turn up ready for a 9am start on Saturday morning with clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty, and enclosed sturdy shoes or boots suitable for a workshop (not flip-flops or sandals please). Your legs need to be covered and please bring an apron if you have one.
You will learn how to use a gas torch to anneal and solder the metal. You will use hammers and mallets to shape the bangles.
Please note: We don’t have facilities to make drinks in the workshop, so please do bring a flask of tea or coffee or a cold drink if you would like one, and you may wish to bring a snack for morning break. The workshop can get a little chilly, but it can also be very warm when you are busy working, so we suggest you bring a few layers of clothes so that you can be comfortable.
