Bigbury Mint Courses

Medal-making requires us to learn many different craft skills, some of which could be ‘lost’ as technologies change.  We think it’s so important to take the trouble to teach and pass on these skills and techniques.

So, what’s the point of learning them? They are fun and satisfying to do and they may be useful in the future either because we place a higher value on something directly made by humans or because they require very little non-renewable energies.

We offer some regular courses and some more specialist ones that are available when we have enough people who want to go for it. I personally believe that everyone should learn some craft skills to enrich them and fulfil a basic need to make things with our hands.

The courses below run up to December 2022, and they will be run by Vicky Hodgkiss  BA (Hons) Silversmithing and Jewellery-Making.
