Additional information

INFO

Originally awarded to full-time regular police officers within any UK Constabulary for 22 years service. However, following a national campaign by Warwickshire Police Officer Kenneth Fowler, supported by Chief Officers, the Police Federations and Members of Parliament, the award point of the medal was reduced to 20 years service on 19 January 2010, bringing it in line with the Fire, Ambulance and Prison Long Service and Good Conduct Medals which are all awarded after 20 years service. In 1956 this medal was extended to police officers serving in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Nauru. Australia however replaced this medal in 1976 with the National Medal.
