Ivybridge Community College Medal

Ivybridge Community College Medal.

50mm diameter bronze.

The obverse shows the 2012 logo with a stone bridge covered in ivy and the river Erme flowing through. It is used as the obverse for two of the college’s medals. The plaster model was carved by Mike Honey and Matthew Holland.

The reverse of the Outdoor pursuits medal shows compass points and the text ‘Outdoor Pursuits’ and ‘Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards’ . Plaster model by Matthew Holland.

The alternative reverse is for the College’s Prize medals. It shows a child’s figure with arms and hands outstretched before the world, as if to embrace it. The image was taken from a photograph by local photographer John Constantine of his daughter Ella (a pupil at the college). The plaster model was carved by David Holland.

Several members of Bigbury Mint studied at this College, including the Director.
