The Royal Belfast Academical Institution Medal.

Royal Belfast Academical Institution Bicentennial Medal.

50mm diameter bronze.

This is a reproduction of a 19th Century Medal given as a prize at the Academy.

The obverse shows a tutor (possibly Minerva) placing a laurel wreath on the head of a student. The Greek motto translates as ‘Diligence is everything’.  The plaster model was carved by Matthew Holland.

The reverse shows a banner ‘Quaerere Verum’ which is latin for ‘seek the truth’ and the text ‘The Royal Belfast Academical Institution 1810 – 2010′ .
