St Austell Brewery Medal

St Austell Brewery Medal is 36.6mm diameter in copper. Not just any copper! The copper was taken from huge vats which the beer was brewed in.  The vats were dismantled, cut into strips and then discs for striking into medals.  The obverse shows the company logo with the text around the outside reading CORNWALL’S INDEPENDANT FAMILY BREWERS. The reverse is exactly the same except for the extra text 150TH ANNIVERSARY 1851-2001.
