Officer of the British Empire OBE FULL SIZE.
Instituted: June 1917.
Ribbon: 38mm, originally purple, with a narrow central scarlet stripe for the Military Division; rose-pink edged with pearl grey, with a narrow central stripe of pearl-grey for the Military Division (since 1936). A silver crossed oakleaf emblem for gallantry was instituted in 1957 and continued until 1974. The gallantry award can be continued to wear if awarded between 1957 and 1974.
Branch of Service: Military and Civilian personnel.
A higher award than the MBE (Member of the British Empire).
The military ribbon includes a central grey stripe.
